Title: “Immunopathology in schizophrenia: from autoimmunity to complement”

Abstract: Carolin Hoffmann will briefly introduce herself and her work on the role of autoantibodies in psychotic disorders including the screening for neuronal autoantibodies in serum of patients. She will then present her project plan on investigating the role of complement in schizophrenia pathology which she aims to perform at the CBMR in the group of Clévio Nóbrega.

About the speaker: Carolin Hoffmann performed her PhD at Maastricht University, where she set-up the research line of autoantibodies in psychotic disorders under supervision of Prof. Pilar Martinez. Since receiving her PhD degree in 2018, she continues her research line in Maastricht as a PostDoc. In 2019 she stayed 3 months in the Neuroscience department of Biodonostia (San Sebastian, Spain). Carolin recently received the FCT individual fellowship to work on the role of complement in schizophrenia at the CBMR in the group of Clévio Nóbrega.
